Fully Funded Business Awareness Workshops for North East Chamber Members

Empowering Early-Career Staff: Fully Funded Business Awareness Workshops for North East Chamber Members

FIRST, in collaboration with the North East Chamber of Commerce, is offering fully funded Business Awareness Workshops designed to equip entry-level staff with the courage, knowledge and professional skills needed to thrive at work, helping businesses strengthen staff retention, boost productivity, and develop confident teams that contribute more effectively to organisational goals. These workshops will support them to thrive in the workplace.

These targeted sessions help bridge skill gaps, enhance communication, and build resilience - empowering junior employees such as recent graduates, trainees, apprentices, volunteers, and those stepping into their first professional role to make a stronger impact from day one.

Why It Matters

Research shows that only 48% of employees and 12% of mid-level managers feel new hires are job-ready. These tailored workshops are designed to close that gap, supporting talent retention and boosting workplace confidence.

“Energetic, engaging, and practical. Great feedback from staff - we’ll work with FIRST again.”

- Home Group, L&D Partner

Workshop Focus Areas

• Professional Networking: Building internal and external connections and representing your organisation with confidence.

• Role & Career Development: Identifying key skills and setting SMART goals for progression.

• Industry Risk Awareness: Understanding sector risks and adopting practical mitigation habits.

• Presentation Skills: Managing public speaking anxiety and communicating clearly and confidently.

Flexible Delivery Options

Workshops can be delivered either in-person or online - with locations available at the workplace or at PROTO, Gateshead. All participants receive certification upon completion.

FIRST’s Perspective

These workshops go beyond professional development by focusing on connection and career growth. Each session is designed to be practical, interactive and accessible, ensuring every participant leaves feeling empowered to contribute more within their role and organisation.” - Julianne Percival, Curriculum Lead at FIRST
