Our theme this month is 'mobilising others' so it’s time to polish off those communication, negotiation and leadership skills you don't think you have (you do), and get to task putting yourself out there to find meaningful employment.

Amazon – Durham, Darlington and Jarrow

Are you looking for a Christmas temp job that isn't just stacking shelves?

Why not apply to work at one of the many new Amazon sites here in the North East?

Amazon have built two new Fulfilment centres in Darlington and Durham which both opened this year, as well as having a logistics site based in Jarrow.

They are currently recruiting to a variety of different position on a fixed term contract until the 21st of January.

Pay is £9.70 for the day shift or £10.70 night shift at Jarrow, or £11.41 night shift at Durham and Darlington. Overtime rates are between £14.55 to £19.40 ph.

Marks and Spencers Graduate Programme

For all you soon to be graduates out there, it is time you start thinking about what you want to do next and whether there is a good graduate programme you can apply for.

Marks and Spencers Store Management Graduate Programme is now open and taking applications ready to start in September 2021.

This is nationwide and they will try and place you in a location of your choice. You’ll also be working across many different departments such as Food, Clothes, Home and Store Operations.

Salary: £24,000 

Deadline: 2nd December 2020

Christmas Elves – West Boldon Lodge

Ok this one is just a bit of fun, but do you think you have what it takes to convincingly play an elf in the lead up to Christmas?

Groundwork are looking for three elves – two assistants and one activity leader to work alongside Santa and his other elves to deliver a magical experience for the children and families at West Boldon Lodge.

If you’re thinking of applying you MUST be available for induction and training on Saturday, the 21st of November and a dress rehearsal on Saturday the 28th.

Pay is £9-10 per hour for the assistant elves, and £10-13 for the leader elf.

Free Courses with the Open University

Are you looking to fill some free time doing something that adds another notch to your belt?

Then why not complete a free course with the Open University.

They have a wide range of free online courses in subjects relating to: Health, Sports and Psychology, Education & Development, History and the Arts, Languages, Money and Business, Nature & Environment, Science, Maths and Technology, and Society, Politics and Law.

These are all categorised as either introductory, beginner, intermediate or advanced and range between an hour to 25 hours in length.

MtW November Youth Forums

Movement to Work are hosting two upcoming Youth Forums on the 10th and 11th of November hoping to hear directly from young people on what life is like for you right now, how COVID-19 has affected your lives and what barriers you are currently facing in finding work.

Are you a resident of North Tyneside with a bit of time to spare who wants to help keep your community safe?

Get Creative with Skillshare

Are you looking for something online but a bit more creative than the courses available from the Open University?

Then Skillshare may be the site for you.

They have a wide range of courses available on everything from podcasting, to graphic design to web design and how to use javascript.

Sadly, Skillshare is not free but they do offer a free 7 day trial period which is more than enough time to do at least one of these online creative courses.
