Overall job role

The Learner Support Worker will have responsibility to support learners across all FIRST learning programmes including the Steps to a Brighter Futures Programme. You will work with the Learning and Development Coordinator, Operations Manager and tutors to ensure that anyone enrolled on a learning programme have the best opportunity to complete the programme and improve their opportunity for positive destination into employment, education or further training.

Your key responsibilities overall are:

Learners

  • Develop learning plans for all learners
  • Be the point of support contact for learners on all FIRST learning courses
  • Be part of programme delivery from a support aspect, encouraging and motivating learners through their learning journey
  • Be the key contact for learners who cannot attend workshops/sessions etc, track attendance and follow up any learners who miss sessions
  • Identify and areas of concern with learners to the Learning and Development Coordinator and provide additional pastoral support as necessary
  • Ensure all learners have access to resources including support material, e-portfolio’s and the ability to access learning virtually
  • Record and monitor all learner impact including destination tracking, outcomes and feedback.

Partners

  • Establish and maintain relationship with partners which provide appropriate support for learners

Team

  • Work with the Learning and Development Department to deliver high quality support for learners across all FIRST programmes
  • Support learners into positive progression destinations
  • Ensure any paperwork relating to the learners on programmes is completed and submitted within timescales to the Learning and Development Coordinator

Your role will need to be flexible to support delivery across all FIRST programmes. This role will include other elements of administration and learner support as directed as and when by the Operations Manager.

Qualifications

  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English


  • Qualification in Information, Advice and Guidance

Experience

  • At least 1 year of direct work with 19+ supporting their personal or professional development

  • Work in previous support role with learners/students
  • Working in an environment which has undergone an Ofsted inspection

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to relate to vulnerable learners
  • Ability to provide support to learners virtually
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work across a number of different projects
  • Youth work skills
