Overall job role

The Compliance officer will have responsibility for the monitoring and administration of FIRST’s CLLD project “Skills to Start”. Directed by the operations manager, responsibilities will include ensuring external processes and policies are followed, audit trails are kept up to date and we meet government standards and industry legislations. The finance aspect of the role will involve completing monthly claims, sales and purchase invoicing and bank reconciliation.

Day to day Compliance contract delivery:

  • Monitoring of staff training including PREVENT, safeguarding, DBS checks, GDPR, health and safety and cyber security.

  • Maintaining and monitoring all ESIF funding and match funding requirements such as participant paperwork, output monitoring and audit trails.

  • Preparing monthly financial claims accurately and to tight deadlines.

  • Ensuring all processes are GDPR compliant including data sharing agreements with referral partners and participants.

  • Perform risk assessments to understand risk level, significance, and scope.

  • Monitor compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies – record findings – investigate non-compliance and follow up with management to rectify any issues

  • Report back to business functions on current risk and compliance performance.

  • Review all project communications including marketing materials, presentations, and websites to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for European Funding.

  • Assist in the gathering of internal information in response to regulatory and audit requests.

  • Perform various general administrative duties for the project (such as file creation and maintenance of ongoing administrative projects).

Qualifications

  • Accountancy qualification (Level 3 or above)

  • Degree in Finance 

Experience

  • Working with ESIF funded projects

  • Working in a finance/compliance role

  • Working in a Further Education college or training provider  

Skills

  • Exceptional IT skills and proficient in Microsoft office

  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks

  • Evidence of strong administrative and organisational skills

  • Able to prioritise workloads and multi-task effectively

  • A strong team player able to work effectively with diverse client groups

  • Able to assimilate information quickly and accurately

  • Able to work appropriately with confidential information
