'Mobilising resources', recognised by EntreComp as an essential enterprise skill to achieve goals and objectives. Resources can include finance, time, personal connections/network, skills and knowledge. Once mastered, the skill empowers productivity, efficiency, and resilience in the face of changes or obstacles, leading to strategic decision making and successful project launches.

North East Devolution - what this means for skills

As part of North of Tyne Combined Authority's Adult Education Budget, FIRST deliver level 1 qualifications in enterprise skills to empower underrepresented groups in business apply for work, explore entrepreneurship and access further/higher education. Contracting with local, small providers has been extremely successful in North of Tyne with over 30,000 residents enrolling onto courses, showing a significant increase in pre-devolution uptake.

With the inclusion of Sunderland, South Tyneside, Gateshead and Durham and an indicative budget of around £1.8bn, or £60m a year, we are delighted that more residents will have the opportunity to find their passion and upskill in local priority sectors.

A mayoral election will take place in May 2024 with a public consultation set for Monday 13 February 2023, details below!

Devolution Consultation

Patrick Melia, Chief Executive of Sunderland City Council and Head of Paid Service for the North East Combined Authority and Dr Henry Kippin, Chief Executive of North of Tyne Combined Authority will share details of the recently announced North East devolution deal, with an opportunity for participants to ask questions.

Going global!

DIT North America is offering two weeks of presentations and interactive sessions designed to provide key information and guidance on export opportunities to the US and Canada in 2023. Taking place in thirteen key locations (with Newcastle on the 8th of March), Roadshow sessions will offer updates on newly negotiated trade agreements within the US, as well as practical advice from legal, banking and tax experts.
